Problem:

A leading subscription provider of mission critical business information to the Insurance industry required a disciplined, skilled technical partner to compile and merge data from multiple sources and varying formats to be used in a web based application. This vendor would need to assemble and manage the client's databases going forward. Minimal supporting file documentation was available regarding these input files. New data sources would be added frequently and the ability to respond quickly to constantly changing business requirements was a high priority. A nationwide search was conducted to find the organization capable of meeting their high standards.

The Electron Factory (TEF) was selected based on TEF's demonstrated ability to quickly, accurately and cost effectively manage its client's databases.

TEF met with the organization's key executives to identify and prioritize data issues. The following day, TEF downloaded the raw input files from the client's FTP site and began the data quality review process.

Within 3 Weeks TEF:- Loaded all source files.
- Generated cross tab and custom reports on each raw file to ensure data hygiene.
- Produced an in-depth file analysis on input files, detailing errors on input files. The client used this information for both financial and relational leverage with their data source vendors.
- Cleaned up data files in preparation for matching process
- Worked closely with client's IT group to map data elements from source files to appropriate data elements on client's database. This involved collection of detailed business requirements and establishing the hierarchy of data sources for each element on the final database format.
- Merged input files into one master file through utilizing TEF's proprietary matching algorithms
- Developed and deployed an application for the client's need to modify the database in a real time environment
- Created final working masterfile from compiled automated and manual matching results.
